The Mama Sita Foundation, in its objective to gather food heritage stories and
recipes from Filipinos all over the world, signaled the beginning of the Mga
Kuwentong Pagkain: Filipino Food Stories From Around The World last April 5, 2022. The contest, aimed at anyone who has a Filipino food story to share, was
announced to members of the press and guests of the Foundation during a mango
picking and picnic, also organized by the Foundation, in Mexico, Pampanga.

As a way to preserve the many Filipino food stories globally, the Foundation
had decided to expand the submissions beyond the usual written entries, to include
video entries, as well as photo essay entries. The video and photo essay entries are part of the Visuals category of the contest, allowing more creativity and style of sharing food stories. Video entries will allow participants to capture food-in-action, be it in gathering, preparation, cooking, or all of the above. Photo essay entries can capture emotions in a moment, accompanied by a written narrative.

The contest, running from April 5, 2022 to October 31, 2022, will give
participants a chance to win up to ₱ 20,000 in prizes. These stories can range from
regional food stories and hometown culinary traditions to dishes unique to the family
and special methods of preparation or use of ingredients.
