Culinary legend Chef Natawoot “Aof” Thammapan went head-to-head with Patee Sarasin at the company’s Thai showroom at River City Bangkok on Sunday 4th September 2022.

German Kitchen Design, which is dedicated to bringing contemporary European style and quality into Thai homes, hosted its first-ever “Live Cooking Challenge” on Sunday 4th September, as the company’s director and travel industry icon, Patee Sarasin, took on Chef Natawoot “Aof” Thammapan, an Iron Chef Thailand winner in 2019!

Staged at the German Kitchen Design’s Thai showroom at River City Bangkok, the boutique retail precinct on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, this upbeat event was compèred by Krit Sripoomseth, the popular Thai actor and emcee for the day, alongside Khun Patee, Chef Aof and the company’s two co-founders, Nicolas Reschke and Lutz Mueller.

Following introductory refreshments, a buffet-style brunch featuring authentic German specialties, and welcome speeches by German Kitchen Design’s executives, a select group of media guests was treated to an exclusive tour of the showroom and the chance to see the company’s premium products first-hand.

Then it was time for the main event: a “clash of the titans” cook-off between Chef Aof, a culinary legend with more than 27 years of experience who triumphed at Iron Chef Thailand 2019, and Khun Patee, the travel and aviation industry leader who is passionate about food. Using nobilia’s world-class kitchenware, the pair put their own unique twist on a classic Italian dish of spaghetti with black squid ink sauce. Naturally, the occasion concluded with the opportunity for guests to sample Chef Aof’s award-winning cuisine in a food tasting session.

“We were very excited to invite Chef Aof, one of Thailand’s most recognizable and highly respected culinary experts, to German Kitchen Design’s inaugural Live Cooking Challenge. Our director, Khun Patee, is a confident cook but he had his work cut out against a former Iron Chef Thailand winner! Regardless of the outcome, this event was great fun and offered a fantastic way to demonstrate our high-quality kitchen products. We would like to thank everyone who attended for making this event such a success,” commented Nicolas Reschke, co-founder and Managing Director of German Kitchen Design.

German Kitchen Design will host more Live Cooking Challenges in future – stay tuned for further details! To see the company’s outstanding products first-hand, please visit the company’s Thai showroom on the second floor of River City Bangkok.
