The Sandwich That Started It All®

The first Earl of Sandwich Shop opened its doors in at SM Megamall Building A. To mark the momentous occasion, Alex Garland, the Managing Director of Earl of Sandwich for Europe, Middle East and Asia joined the proud Florete family (the local franchisees), led by Marcelino M. Florete, Jr. ,in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

A Bite into History

In 1762, John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich®, invented the meal that changed dining forever. As the story goes, he was playing cards and did not want to leave the gaming table to eat. He asked for a serving of roast beef to be placed between two slices of bread so he could eat with his hands. Thus, the Sandwich was born.

The Legacy Continues

Who better to continue the tradition of the sandwich than the descendants of its inventor? In 2004, Lord John Montagu, the 11th Earl of Sandwich® and his son, the Honorable Orlando Montagu, direct descendants of the inventor of the sandwich, partnered with Robert Earl, founder and CEO of Planet Hollywood®, to launch the Earl of Sandwich® restaurants.

Our secret is our famous artisan bread baked when you order, and traditional family recipes prepared with fresh ingredients. Our menu pays tribute to the very art of the sandwich. From our signature namesakes like The Original 1762® and The Full Montagu, to our fresh salads, we believe in using the highest quality ingredients in everything we serve. We believe that sandwiches are more than a convenience food; they should be carefully crafted and thoroughly enjoyed.
