The Center for Culinary Arts, Manila (CCA, Manila) proves once again that it is the country’s foremost culinary education institution as one of its professors and head of school operation, Liza H. Morales, was recently conferred Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), a world-recognized leader in hospitality certification.
Since she joined CCA, Manila in 2010, Ms. Morales -– who has over two decades experience in the hotel and resort industry and academic profession -– handled various subjects for the school’s diploma and BS culinary management courses.
“I am very proud of this accomplishment as acquiring the certification was a long and challenging process. Aside from intensive workshops and classes and a comprehensive exam, I even had to submit a video of me applying the teaching strategies I’ve learned in the course. This achievement will serve as an inspiration to CCA students, faculty and managers to reach for their dreams and how hard work can make us accomplish our goals,” she said.
Ms. Morales, a University of the Philippines BS in Tourism graduate and an Ateneo Graduate School, MBA student (academics completed), successfully passed the comprehensive exam conducted at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. AHLEI is widely recognized as the preeminent leader in hospitality certification being an affiliate and the education arm of the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
The CHE program is the only professional development opportunity designed for post-secondary hospitality educators around the world. CCA, Manila is proud of Ms. Morales’ accomplishment as only a handful are certified hospitality educators in the Philippines.
Ms. Morales handles marketing, business communications, cost control, human resource, wine and beverage and restaurant service courses.
“As an AHLEI CHE, I will continue to share my expertise with CCA students who are being prepared to take on leadership roles in the culinary world as kitchen executives and restaurant owners,” she said. “This is the reason why CCA is the top culinary school as it provides a complete training for its students including business courses which they can use in the future.”
