Edsa Shangri-La, Manila officially welcomes the beginning of the festive season with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony held last November 10, 2015, 6 p.m at the hotel’s Grand Lobby. General Manager Amit Oberoi led the ceremonial affair with special guest Mandaluyong City Mayor,
Benjamin Abalos, Menchie Abalos and their family. It was a spectacular affair as guests walked into a white winter with brilliantly lit Christmas Trees that even changes colors. There were snowflakes, glittering lights, polar bears, snowman, and ice castles and to everyone’s surprise a magical snowfall.
The night was a celebration in honor of the community where Edsa Shangri-La, Manila has been part of for the past 25 years. Guests consisting of loyal patrons, corporate accounts, celebrities and in-house guests were introduced to the children from Isla De Cocomo learning center, the beneficiary of Shangri-La’s embrace program for 19 years. “Embrace is Shangri-La’s Care for People Project; we have continuously changed the lives of children through Isla De Cocomo learning center because of the support of our guests and partners. Together, we were able to improve and create positive impact to
our community. Tonight is our way of giving back and saying thank you for the beautiful relationship for the past years. Everything we do here in our hotel is inspired by all of you.” says General Manger Amit Oberoi. Edsa Shangri-La, Manila built the school in 1996, and, while the city government takes
charge of management. The hotel closely supervises the maintenance and refurbishment of the facilities. Employees remained to be involved with continuous voluntary work from teaching to organizing vaccination clinics, and hosting of annual activities for the children such as Earth Hour, Christmas parties and more. With the Embrace program, the hotel continues to contribute to the development of young adults to help them become self-reliant, independent and productive members of the community.
The celebration was also an opportunity to present the hotel’s festive offerings featured in the life-sized castle display, filled with gift ideas perfect for your grown up Christmas list. Everyone were treated to a heartwarming performance from Isla De Cocomo, delectable confectionary treats and overflowing cocktails and a delightful 2-hour snowfall.
